CSI8719 Mobile Location-based Services
As mobile technologies advance, various location-based services (LBS) have been brought into our everyday life and researches on the development of new advanced LBS have been accelerated. Mobile LBS can be defined as user-oriented services providing users with location information obtained from the user’s mobile devices, information on the points of interest at the current locations of users, along with related information on the Internet. In this course, the following topics are studied: personalization of services, ubiquity of the services, data collection, organization, and management, data transmission, system interoperability, user interfaces, and related issues. Students are to practice the concepts acquired from the course with performing a term project.
